Jonnie Hodson

Reverend "Slackjaw" Jonnie Hodson, who's harp playing has been likened to Sonny Boy Williamson and Paul Butterfield, as well as being described as "vocally, Jonnie appears to have been demonically possessed by Paul Rodgers", is the Liverpool based singer and harp player of The Head Hunters Blues Band and Keylock.

"I found Easttop about 5 years ago, I was recording an EP with my old band, Black Cat Bones, and needed a harp in B. I found an Easttop that was affordable, I bought it to get me through the session but never went back to any other brand". Over his time with Black Cat Bones, Jonnie and the band toured the UK multiple times, supporting acts such as The Quireboys, Marco Mendoza, Tyler Bryant and The Shakedown, The Great White and The Answer are included as highlights.

In 2015 Jonnie formed The Head Hunters Blues Band with guitar player Big Bill Riding, with the mission statement to "play the blues, the whole blues and nothing but the blues". The Head Hunters Blues Band released their debut album 'Back From The Delta' to critical acclaim in 2019, a record comprising of obscure delta blues tracks reworked to a more Chicago blues sound. The band toured the album in the UK and Europe, Blues In Britain Magazine said "This is a brilliant album, they have created a very special feel to the blues they play, Back From The Delta is an album of songs from the delta blues treasure trove, loving overlaid with generous coating of Chicago Style gloss. This is a very impressive interpretation of the blues spectrum. you need to catch them live". Following up with live album "The Great Migration" with further glowing reviews in national blues press as well as the album being picked as "album of the month" by the IBBA followed by another tour of the UK and Europe.

"The blues feels like home to me, that music is magical, singing those songs and trying to step itno those shoes. My harp playing is heavily influenced by those great players, Sonny Boy Williamson, Paul Butterfield, James Cotton, Jerry Portnoy, Little Walter, all those guys".

In late 2018, Jonnie formed Keylock "The Traveling Rock & Roll Circus" with guitar player and fellow song writer Aaron Keylock. Keylock spent debut year 2019 playing shows around Europe, Frankfurt Musikmesse, Areatza Music Festival and Blue Balls Festival Switzerland where the band played as main support to Joss Stone, to name a few. The band also spent time in the studio, recording their first two singles 'Coming Home' and 'Shine On Me', the later propelling the band to a new height. Shine On Me was playlisted by Planet Rock Radio as well as prompting Classic Rock Magazine to feature the band across their social media platforms. Keylock celebrated the release of Shine On Me with a festival appearance at Planet Rocks Winters End, supporting Diamond Head and The Sweet.

Jonnie is a widely published artist with his various pursuits, Planet Rock, Blues In Britain, Classic Rock Magazine and a plethora of online publications. On joining the Easttop family, the Reverend says "It's an honour! Since I found Easttop they fast replaced the brands I was using, they've been to Europe with me, round the UK and shared every stage I've played. I couldn't believe the quality, they're the best sounding harps I've played and a lot of my harp playing buddies have switched to Easttop now on my recommendation. I'm now looking forward to working closely with the guys at Easttop and ofcourse playing these fantastic harps!"
